Panda Angel Introduction

The giant panda, one of the rarest species in the world, has been classified as a first-class protected animal in China. With an evolutionary history dating back to 800 million years ago when dinosaurs were alive andwell, the panda is known as a “living fossil” and “China’s national treasure”. It is also the logo of the World Wildlife Federation. It often serves as an “Ambassador for Peace”, bringing Chinese goodwill across oceans to make friends. Therefore, it has received deep love

from people around the world. In a sense, the giant panda is a witness to thechanges of time.

In the Western religious culture, angels refer to messengers of God and represent holiness, goodness and integrity. They are very sacred, with extraordinary intelligence and great power. Panda Angel, as its name implies, means that the giant panda is a messenger for peace, goodness and integrity.

Time is elusive as it is invisible but able to quietly change everything in the world. A lot of time-keeping devices have been invented to grasp time, including timepieces.
Ancient China led the world in timekeeping. According to Edition of the Astronomy Part of the Records of Jin Dynasty, Zhang Heng, an astronomer in the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 78-739), created a water-powered armillary sphere, the world’s first timekeeper based on a mechanical drive. It connected a celestial globe and a clepsydra via a gear system. Water drops from the clepsydra pushed the celestial globe to rotate regularly, and a full rotation represented a day. This was the earliest prototype of mechanical clocks.
In the third year (1088) of the Yuanyou reign of the Northern Song Dynasty, astronomers Su Song and Han Gonglian designed and built a water-driven astronomical clock tower, the world’s first astronomical clock. Its escapement mechanism, which used a celestial balance system to control the rotation of its water wheel, was a precursor to modern timepieces. The mechanism appeared more than 300 years earlier than the anchor escapement invented in Europe during the 14th century

of the Renaissance.

Timepieces are a mixture of Chinese and Western cultures, associated with many diplomatic anecdotes. Every timepiece is like a planet that circles rhythmically, just as our blood and life circulate, therefore producing a powerful magnet field of

life. More than a precision instrument, a timepiece is also a fashionable artwork, an energy information carrier indicative of the existence of time and space, and most importantly, a miniature of the universe, amplifying and spreading the attached ideas and propositions to the maximum.

Bearing in mind these ideas and propositions, China-based Panda Angel combines advanced precision manufacturing technology and rich Chinese traditional culture and arts (such as enameling, micro-carving, embroidery, and other intangible cultural heritage) to make a series of high-end timepieces that features images of the giant panda, a showcase for the essence of the Chinese culture and for China’s commitment to building a community with a shared future for mankind. This is what Panda Angel timepieces are created for: timeless love for mankind and peace.
